Antonio Cavalieri Ducati and his three sons founded Ducati in 1926. By 1935 Ducati were so successful they were able to build a new factory in Borgo Panigale, the production continued right through World War II despite the factories being repeatedly bombed.
Ducati’s first ‘light weight motorcycle’ was the Cucciolo bike, it was 48cc, weighing 98lb with a top speed of 40mph. Ducati soon disposed of the name Cucciolo (Italian for ‘puppy’) and switched to 55M and 65TL.
As the market moved towards bigger bikes, Ducati created the 65TS cycle and cruiser, which was a four stroke motor scooter. There was a lot of interest in this bike at the 1952 Milan show, however the sales weren’t great and only a few thousand were made over a two year period.
Volkswagen Group's Audi subsidiary announced its intention to buy Ducati in 2012 for €860 million. AUDI AG acquired 100% of the voting right’s of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. via Audi's Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. subsidiary.
The Ducati brand is only becoming more popular with every year, Ducati Motor Holdings were very happy to report that sales for 2015 were up by 22% compared to 2014! Last year was not only Ducati’s best ever sales figures, they also managed get the Scrambler into the Global Top 10 bikes with 16,000 sold around the world.
If you just want to know more about Ducati, here’s a bit more information!
Ducati is an Italian company, designing and manufacturing motorcycles with the head quarters based in Bologna. Ducati is well known for sport bikes and street bikes with V-twin engine, known as an L-twin by the company.

Going Solo
1953 saw the company’s management split between Ducati Meccanica SpA and Ducati Elettronica, showing acknowledgement of both its motorcycle and electronics product lines. Ducati Meccanica SpA increased production to 120 bikes a day. In 1960 Ducati finally earned its place in history by creating the fastest 250 cc road bike available at that time. In 1973 they released the V Twin with the trademarked desmodromic valve design.Carl Fogarty
Ducati’s fame grew in the 90’s with the help of Carl Fogarty, who won four World Superbike championships on Ducati’s. Carl was born in Blackburn, Lancashire and is known for the love of these bikes!

The Scrambler Classic is aimed at people who appreciate the 70’s vibe, but who want the riding fun and comfort of modern bikes. This bike is more about style and slightly less power than the above, with 75 hp and 50 lbft.5. 1299 Panigale S (146 registrations)
