Eight New Harley Davidson's To Be Released In 2018

Harley Davidson is celebrating its 115th year anniversary, and they plan on making it one to remember. They have confirmed they will be releasing eight new exciting motorcycles. Doing so inspires a whole new generation of people to join in on the fun. This will be the largest product development project ever for the company!

The eight new bikes all 'have a specific personality, they plan on creating new custom models combining the Dyna and Softail families under the Softail banner. The bikes will have massive weight reductions, new chassis, engines and upgraded suspension specifications. Paul James, manager of the product portfolio said:

“Thousands of hours of testing were put into the complete redesign of these new cruisers. We focused on taking the total rider experience to a higher level, where authenticity, heritage and soul meet the modern edge of technology for a ride that must be felt to be believed.”

In the last few years, Harley has made a distinct effort to target a slightly different demographic in the market; creating lighter, lower and easier to ride machines. These bikes appealed to slightly younger, newer riders and well as females. This turned out to be a brilliant move for the motorcycle legends, and this coveted market now makes up a massive 40% of their sales.  CEO Levatich said:

"We feel very good about our efforts to speak differently to different types of people that aren't yet riding," he said. "It's about the ability to have our great products available to more consumers in those markets so that we can grow faster"

Harley Davidson has confirmed they have a 10-year goal of attracting several million more customers; this is important for the longevity of the company as the Baby Boomers will be becoming to an age of stopping riding.

Although Harley turned their attention to this new audience...

They made sure not to forget the loyal, older customers. The company wants to reach every possible audience but still be there for the older generation, the lighter bikes will cater for someone not that physically strong:

"Youth is part of it, but what we're really talking about is anyone of any generation," he said, "who has that certain zest for life." CEO Levatich

As well as announcing the eight new motorcycles to be released, Harley has confirmed the company is planning to open a new factory in Thailand! Harley’s objectives include making international sales more than half the overall business turnover in the next few years.
