13 Musicians Who Are Mad About Motorcycles
You might have more in common with your favourite musicians than you think. We love writing about celebrity bikers, and we've done various posts about them. However, we haven't really done one about musicians who ride bikes. Well, now we have!
Does your favourite singer ride motorbikes? Find out below...
TINA TURNER
During the 90's, Tina Turner was known to spend a lot of time on her Harley-Davidson Electra-Glide, just life Elvis. This bike can be seen on her video, ‘What You Get Is What You See’. It is no surprise she was dubbed the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll.
BILLY IDOL
Just like Tina, the iconic Billy Idol was an avid rider of motorcycles, particularly Harley Davidson. However, on a ride one day in 1990, Billy’s life almost came to a tragic end after it collided with a car. He nearly lost his leg that day, and the bike was sadly no more. After this, he decided it was time to hang up his leathers.
DAN AYKROYD
Blues Brothers, Dan Aykroyd is also a big Harley Davidson fan! His first bike was a 1971 police edition. He’s always had a love for Harleys and in 2018 he donated his Harley to the National Comedy Centre. You can find a video of him arriving on it on YouTube.
AXL ROSE
It doesn’t surprise us to learn that Axl Rose is also a Harley rider. In 2016 he was gifted a V-Rod by Harley-Davidson themselves when they signed a partnership. It’s alright for some isn’t it?! Axl isn’t the only Guns ‘n’ Roses member who likes his bikes. Bassist Duff McKagan owns a BMW K1600B, and although Slash doesn’t ride motorcycles, he’s very much into his BMX.
ALICE COOPER
Historically, Alice Cooper was almost always seen with his motorcycle. Nowadays, he still rides but he tends to try out different things, he loves trikes too! He had a 2014 Harley Sportster XL1200X which was sold at a charity auction.
DAVE GROHL
Another Harley owner is none other than Foo Fighter’s own, Dave Grohl. He said he first got into bikes when he was drumming for Nirvana, and he’s been hooked ever since! Today, Grohl still has a love for hogs and bobbers.
MIKE DIRNT
Green Day love their motorbikes. But bassist, Mike Dirnt takes it to a whole new level. He has a few bikes in his collection. He designed his own café racer converted from a CB750 by his friend Steve Carpenter.
LENNY KRAVITZ
Eccentric Manhattan-born singer-songwriter, Lenny Kravitz has been seen riding his motorcycle. He never really seems to talk about his love for bikes, he was recently seen riding with Jason Momoa. They were probably both discussing Momoas recent split from his wife, who was once married to Lenny too!
STEVEN TYLER
You learn something new every day! Did you know that Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler has his own motorcycle company? Dirico Motorcycles was launched in 2007 with headquarters located in Manchester, New Hampshire. I don’t believe we’ve bought any here at We Buy Any Bike. Hey, if you have one for sale, drop us a message! Steven has two Harleys in his garage. One is a 1990 Fat Bob and the other is a 2013 customed to Dirico spec.
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
We aren’t too sure what Springsteen rides today. Throughout his life he’s been seen riding Harleys, Triumphs, and a Yamaha. His most notable bike was his Moto Guzzi. He was once found stranded on it in 2016 and had to be rescued by a group of Veterans. I bet that was a bit of a surprise for them!
JOHNNY BORRELL
The early 00’s sensation Razorlight are best known for their hits, ‘America’, and ‘Golden Touch’. Today you can find them making more music after they reformed in 2017. Their frontman, Johnny Borrell is a huge fan of Moto Guzzi, he has two Californias! He broke the news once for riding one through a party at his house he shared with his then girlfriend, Kirsten Dunst.
JON BON JOVI
Jon Bon Jovi hung up his helmet in 1994, when he sustained an injury to his wrist - this nearly forcing him to retire from his bass guitar! It was time for Jon to decide which passion he loved most, and he chose music. We’re sure he still enjoys his bikes, just from a distance! Bon Jovi was also a Harley rider.
DAVID LEE ROTH
The former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth loves his bikes. 2 years ago, Roth used to consistently upload episodes and Podcasts onto his YouTube channel. In these he would discuss various topics. A couple of these focused on his passion for bikes, specifically his Harley.
