The different styles of motorbike
If you are looking to sell your motorbike and change to a new style, it’s important to know the differences. There are many styles of motorbike available that have all been designed for distinct purposes. We have put together this quick guide so you can learn all about each style’s use, general characteristics and advantages.
125cc Motorbikes
125cc engine motorbikes are extremely popular as they are affordable, easy to ride, and great on fuel. These can be ridden with a European A1 license which makes them hugely popular amongst new riders. Many use a 125cc as a starter bike before moving to something with a bigger engine once they are comfortable.

Sportbike
Sport bikes are much lighter than other style and are the fastest bikes you’ll find that are road legal. They are designed with speed, agility, and manoeuvrability in mind and are a thrill to ride thanks to their forward leaning riding position. They also look great thanks to their full fairing and impressive bodywork.

Tourer
Touring motorbikes are some of the largest bikes you’ll find. They are extremely comfortable to ride and have very strong engines to allow riders to accommodate a passenger and luggage. If you are wanting a bike for longer distance journeys, then this is the bike style for you.
SELL MY TOURER MOTORBIKE
Sport Tourer
As the name suggests, sport tourer motorbikes are designed to offer the best traits of both sport bikes and tourers. They offer the power and performance of a sportbike, but also maintain the comfort and luggage options of a tourer. Ultimately, they are sport bikes that have been adapted for longer distances.

Adventure
Adventure motorbikes are designed for both on and off-road riding. Thanks to their quality of suspension, they are comfortable on any type of terrain whether it be dirt trails, country lanes or simply the main road. They have grown in popularity in recent years and most motorbike manufacturers offer them.

Cruiser
Cruiser motorbikes are long and low, and quite simply, they look great! They have a lower seat height and are designed for relaxed weekend riding. Cruiser motorbikes are typically associated with Harley-Davidson although manufacturers such as Triumph and Yamaha now offer one in their range.
SELL MY CRUISER MOTORBIKE
Naked
Naked motorbikes offer the same performance as a sportbike but without the fairings and screen over the handlebars. This style of bike is lighter, faster, and more manoeuvrable. With this kind of bike, you can really feel the wind in your face which makes it a popular choice amongst the motorbike community.
SELL MY NAKED MOTORBIKE
Classic
A classic motorbike tends to be between 20 to 30 years old. These are not often seen on the road and owning one will certainly help you to stand out from the crowd. Classic bikes are great for occasional drives but are often not reliable enough for daily use. Some of our favourite classic bikes include the Triumph Bonneville and the Royal Enfield Classic 500.

Scooter / Moped
Scooters and mopeds are instantly recognisable compared to motorbikes as they are lower and will have a platform for your feet. Scooters are lightweight in design, are cheaper to run thanks to their typically smaller engines, and are perfect for navigating around cities and towns. Piaggio is one of the most popular scooter brands although many top motorbike manufacturers including Yamaha and Suzuki offer them in their collections.

Off-Road
Dirt bikes, enduro bikes, and motocross bikes are all examples of off-road motorbikes. They are lightweight, have full suspension and their tyres come with an optimised tread for use on dirt tracks, gravel, or cross-country roads. Most types of off-road bikes are not road legal, so if you do want to use yours on the road, it’s important you make sure it is legal to do so.
SELL MY OFF-ROAD MOTORBIKE
