Kawasaki is almost a household brand now, known as a manufacturer of motorbikes, heavy equipment, aerospace and defense. The company was founded in 1896 by Shozo Kawasaki and would be known as Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Motorcycles Kawasaki produce are only a small part of this huge company. Kawasaki motorcycles are manufactured by the Motorcycle and Engine section of Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan, USA, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.

Kawasaki's History

In 1960 Kawasaki signed the agreement to take over Meguro motorcycles, and in 1961 Kawasaki produced its first complete motorcycle – the B8 125cc two stroke.  Kawasaki’s first World Championship was achieved in 1969 in the 25cc class. Then the striking Kawasaki H1 (Mach III) a 500cc three-cylinder two-stroke is released. For the day this was a very powerful bike! Over the next few years bigger and smaller versions of the H1 were created, however Kawasaki knew the days of the Two stroke was coming to an end.  The company planned to work on a four-stroke but were shaken when Honda released their 750-Four.

In the early 70s, they induced the 900cc Z1 offering more power and double overhead cams compared to Hondas bike.

They continued to release great bikes in the 80s and 90s, such as GPz550, GPz900R ‘Ninja’, ZX-11. Which were great successes and started creating a loyal following of customers. The championships started rolling in when Kawasaki hits the 2000s and more new exciting bikes were created. So even though motorbikes started as a small part of the business, Kawasaki is now one of the market leaders.
