7 Ways to Sell Your Harley-Davidson
It is without a doubt that Harley-Davidson motorcycles are some of the most loved bikes in the world. On average, 57% of Harley owners across the world clean their pride and joy at least once a week in the summer. Statistics show that Harley-Davidson owners are the most likely to keep their bikes the longest. However, like all motorcyclists – the time will come when you have to trade in your wheels either for
Using the Socials to Sell Your Harley
Worldwide, there are over 2.77 billion people on Social Media, that is potentially the amount of people who will want to buy your Harley – then again, they probably won’t because they’re not all bikers, sorry. Statistics show that the amount of motorcycle users in the UK is 1.23 million(2017). We can’t speak for everyone, but we’re going to guess that there are a good 85% of those bikers on social media – so you’ve still got a good audience.
To put a little spin on things – the only platform dedicated to selling is the Facebook Marketplace – and not everyone uses it. However, you can promote your add for it to be boosted on users news feeds – you’ve probably seen something advertised on there before. You can turn to other platforms; Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc... but you’re guaranteed the best success in selling like you would on Facebook.
Facebook Groups are also as great place to look at. If you join a club, this is a fantastic way to get involved – we recently did a post on Harley-Davidson Clubs in the UK – why not see if they have a group?!
Selling a Harley on Auto Trader
We’ve also done a post completely on Auto Trader, and the whole history behind the platform – you can check it out here if you like! Auto Trader is also another option. It’s like the Facebook Marketplace but for engines on a bigger scale. I suppose the bigger scale could be for the size of the engine too – but that isn’t what we meant. Auto Trader gives you the option to even sell trucks and farming vehicles on the site – but we don’t think Harley-Davidson caters for farming gear - they don’t at the moment anyway.
On Auto Trader, you get the option of selling both privately and to trade. It’s also a great way to do a price comparison check and get a free valuation on your Harley-Davidson by looking at similar models with the same mileage, condition, and age.
Auction Sites like eBay!
This way, like Auto Trader and Facebook – you’re unfortunately going to find yourself hagglers. These people might not just be online, you might have the adverse opportunity to encounter one of these guys when they’re actually at your bike. This could cause a very awkward situation that could be quite difficult to get out of.
Want to Sell your Harley on Gumtree?
What started out as a little second-hand sales site for students has now grown to be suitable for absolutely every man and his dog... that probably isn’t even a joke – there’ll be some dog toys on there somewhere. Taking refrence from the Facebook Marketplace again, Gumtree is pretty much the whole platform on its very own website.
The great thing about Gumtree is that it is a national site – I mean, visitors from other countries can visit, but they will probably be put off buying anything because of the extortionate shipping fees. We can imagine that it would probably be a ridiculous amount for a Harley-Davidson, so we’re not even going to go there!
Are you looking to start your own Harley-Davidson cleaning business? Advertise on Gumtree! Are you looking for an independent mechanic who specialises in Harleys?... you know what to do!
Sell Your Bike on Forums
This is one we haven’t mentioned before – but after a friend recently bought a camera on a forum (I know, it’s not the same but it might actually happen) I thought I’d pop this idea in here! After doing some research, selling a bike on a forum is quite rare (there’s one here), but parts are quite popular. So, if you’re on a mission to fix or upgrade your wheels – this is a great option! It is a risk taker though.
Word of Mouth
Taking it back to the clubs again is a great way to start! Maybe your auntie’s ex-partners nephew is looking for an upgrade – where there’s a will there’s a way!
Word of mouth could also be classed as posters hung up in your local co-op – advertising in your local Facebook Group (not classed as
