Our Top 3 Rides This April
It may have seemed to take a while, but April is finally upon us! Which means longer days, drier roads and generally better weather all waiting for you motorbike enthusiasts.
At We Buy Any Bike, we know there are the obvious routes to take to this spring, but read on to discover our top rides for April! you may not have considered.
1. Exmoor National Park
- Start: Woolacombe
- Finish: Bridgwater
- Total distance: 65 miles
If the coast is what you crave, then we couldn’t recommend this route enough! Spanning 65 miles of generally, uninterrupted costal road, the route from Woolacombe to Bridgwater via Exmoor National Park is truly incredible. Taking roughly 2 hours of solid riding, there are plenty of banking turns, a spectacular views, but we do suggest stopping about 30 minutes into the ride at the Old Station House Inn. Although you’ll only be shortly into your ride, definitely worth a stop to fuel you up for the rest of the ride. A winning pick for our top rides for April!
2. The Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines
- Start: Skipton
- Finish: Gretna
- Total distance: 105 miles
Twists, turns and bends, the route from Skipton to Gretna through the Yorkshire Dales, and scooting past the North Pennines, will truly take you through your paces. Starting in Skipton, within a short ½ mile you are within the Yorkshire Dales. Climbing up to Buttertubs Pass, you will drop into some incredible twits and turns that will truly give you a thrill. As this is quite a long ride, you’ll certainly need a break. Where else would we recommend other than the services at Tebay – just over an hour into your ride it provides a haven to rest and recharge. Continue from here up the M6 to Gretna which generally has a clear run giving you the freedom to ride! With a combination of intense riding at the start, with more of a straight run at the end, this was a no brainer for placing second in our top rides for April.
3. The North East 250
- Start: Glenshee
- Finish: Glenshee
- Total distance: 250 miles
This is going to take you some time, as in a few days, to complete, but it is well worth it! With a combination of mountains and sea, you be blown away by the views. Start in Glenshee head north toward Braemar. Within a short few miles you’ll be in the hear of the Cairngorms with some pretty spectacular views! From here, head east toward Aberdeen on some relatively easy roads to navigate. There is quite a few great places to either stay or stop for a while to rest before heading on the next leg of the journey.
When you’re ready, head north from Aberdeen along the coast toward Fraserburth. This is one of the most picturesque parts of the ride, with views of Scotstown Beach, Rattray Head Lighthouse and finally stopping in Fraserburgh Beach, there are endless coastal lined roads ready to be explored.
From Fraserburgh, continue heading west toward Banff and carry on to Aberlour. On this part of the route, you’ll experience from pretty steep drops and some trickier roads, this will be a truly challenging part of the route but well worth it for the fun of it!
After reaching Aberlour, you’ll be driving back toward Braemar. But before you reach the final destination, you’ll be taken through key towns known for their whiskey, one being Glenlivet. Once you navigated the final widening miles of the Cairngorms, you’ll feel a true sense of accomplishment.
