What is a learner legal rider?!
There are different stages of learner legal that coordinate around your age. A 16-year-old who holds a provisional license and have done their CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) can ride a lightweight machine. A solo machine with strictly no more power than 50cc. The vehicle must be limited to a top speed of 28 mph, meaning you may need to purchase a restrictor. When on the roads with this machine, you must also be: ✓ Displaying L plates clearly ✓ Have a speedo measuring in miles per hour ✓ Vehicle insured ✓ Vehicle taxed When reaching 17 years old, you can step it up a bit! You can now move to a motorcycle if you wish, with a power output of 125cc. The points above still would apply, so L plates are still needed and so on.Still slightly unsure what stage you’re at and what category you fit into?
Hopefully, this graph will help you pinpoint where you are in terms of licence category and what you can ride: A
